Emre's decision to stay will be a boost for boss Sam Allardyce

Newcastle midfielder Emre has committed himself to the club and will fight for his place under new boss Sam Allardyce.

The Turkey international has been linked with a return home to former club Galatasaray, or rivals Fenerbahce.

Emre, 26, told the Turkish press: "I'm happy in England and I'm not thinking about leaving Newcastle.

"I have received serious offers from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, but I have great respect for Sam Allardyce, and I want to continue my career in England."

Former Newcastle boss Graeme Souness paid �4m to bring Emre from Inter Milan in 2005, and Allardyce will be the third manager the midfielder has worked under since his arrival on Tyneside.

His future at Newcastle was plunged into doubt last season after he was charged by the Football Association with racial abuse following a stormy encounter at Everton.

He successfully fought the charge, but the manager who stood by him at the time, Glenn Roeder, has since been replaced by Allardyce.

Skipper Scott Parker also left St James' Park, and although Allardyce moved quickly to sign Joey Barton from Manchester City, Emre's decision to stay will be a welcome boost for the Magpies' boss.

Emre added: "I know all the Turkish newspapers will write my name in their headlines during the transfer window.

"But the Premier League is famous all over the world, that's why I wanted to come here."
