Inter Milan signed Emre in 2001 |
Inter Milan's Turkey midfield man Belozoglu Emre is at the centre of the latest transfer battle between Newcastle and Everton. Newcastle boss Graeme Souness looks set to win the race for Chelsea's 6.5m midfield man Scott Parker.
And now he will fight for Inter's 4m-rated 24-year-old after Everton boss David Moyes held talks in Italy.
Souness is understood to be willing to match the price tag but Emre may want Champions League football at Everton.
Emre, however, may be tempted by teaming up again with Souness, who is a long-term admirer of the skilful playmaker from his days in Turkey as Galatasaray manager.
Moyes made his move at the weekend, flying to Italy for discussions with Emre's representatives in a bid to steal a march on Souness.
Inter confirmed they are reviewing "two or three offers" from Premiership clubs for Emre.
"We've two or three offers from English Premier League teams for Emre," said Inter's sporting director Marco Branca.
"They're big clubs and they've been reported in the press.
"We will evaluate the situation before making a decision."
Emre, who has a contract with Inter until June 2007, made 19 Serie A appearances in the 2004-05 campaign.
He arrived at Inter in 2001 - in a 5m deal that also led to Okan Buruk and Hakan Sukur being brought in from Galatasaray.
