Motherwell captain Stephen Craigan and midfielder Keith Lasley have signed new contracts at Fir Park.

Defender Craigan penned a one-year deal hours after Lasley extended his stay for more two seasons.

Both players have enjoyed a new lease of life since manager Craig Brown took charge at the end of last year.

Craigan and Lasley forged their reputations at the club before leaving for Partick Thistle and Plymouth in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

Both men eventually returned to Lanarkshire, Craigan in 2003, followed by Lasley three years later.

"I am delighted that Stephen has signed an extension to his contract," manager Brown told the club website.

"Crags, along with other experienced guys like Las and (Steven) Hammell, is hugely influential and the fact the he is remaining with us for at least another year is a massive bonus.

"I don't expect this will be the last contract he will sign with Motherwell either as he has proven that he is still very capable of playing at the very top level for a long time yet."

Lasley said: "I am thrilled to get everything sorted out. I have never hidden my desire to play for this club; I love it here.

"Sure, things were hard for the first six months of this season but that has been the only time during my 10 years at this club where I haven't enjoyed coming to work each and every day.

"Hopefully, I'll be able to see out the rest of my professional career here."
