Motherwell defender Marc Fitzpatrick says the under-fire Fir Park pitch could give the home players an advantage over other SPL teams.
The surface was criticised following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Celtic, but Fitzpatrick said overcoming the mental barrier was more of an issue.
"Everybody knows it's not the best surface, but it's just something you need to handle," he said.
"Teams won't want to come here, which could be an advantage to us."
The surface has already come in for criticism this season and Motherwell will be fined 20,000 by the SPL if another home game is postponed.
Celtic defender Gary Caldwell labelled the surface "terrible" following Sunday's draw and said it was difficult to entertain fans on such a poor pitch.
However, Fitzpatrick dismissed the criticism and said players need to focus on football.
"It's more a mental thing - if you come out and you don't want to play and think the pitch is bad, you're never going to win a game," said Fitzpatrick.
"But if you come out and say, 'let's get on with things and do what we can', you're going to win the majority of your games."
Meanwhile, Motherwell have announced a new four-year kit sponsorship deal with Canterbury of New Zealand.
Canterbury are already the kit partner of the Scotland national rugby team, as well as Portsmouth, Deportivo La Coruna, Lille and AZ Alkmaar.
