Quinn is likely to miss Motherwell's last five games
Motherwell manager Mark McGhee has publicly criticised Paul Quinn after the 22-year-old team captain suffered a broken jaw in a nightclub.
"I think he has let us down," McGhee told BBC Sport after the defender was ruled out for the rest of the season.
"I think players nowadays have to be responsible and not put themselves in these sorts of situtions.
"Don't get me wrong, the lads are entitled to a social life, but they have to do it with common sense."
Quinn underwent surgery on Monday and will not be available for Motherwell's last five games of the season as they chase third place and Uefa Cup qualification.
"We have lost him at a very important time of the season and I am disappointed with that," said McGhee.
Sometimes, when we feel a little bit down, we all look at David Clarkson

"He has got to learn common sense."
A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident in Wishaw on Saturday night.
Brian McLean is poised to take Quinn's place at right-back for Saturday's visit by Celtic.
Quinn had become team captain after the death of midfielder Phil O'Donnell in December.
Stephen Craigan is likely to take over as captain against Celtic.
And the defender revealed how striker David Clarkson has inspired the squad since the 35-year-old collapsed with heart failure.
Clarkson has had to cope with losing an uncle as well as a team-mate and friend.
"Sometimes, when we feel a little bit down, we all look at David Clarkson," said Craigan.
"If he can come into training and laugh and smile, and keep his emotions intact and enjoy himself, then there is no reason why we can't do it.
"I think that's where we have all taken our inspiration from, a member of the family being able to move on with things."
Despite the determination to move on, Craigan revealed the death of O'Donnell had been the biggest loss of his life.
"Phil and I weren't the best of friends," he said. "We didn't go to each other's house every night, but I never actually realised how big an impact he had on us until he wasn't here."
