Well's Quinn out with broken jaw

Motherwell captain Paul Quinn could miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken jaw in a nightclub.

The club say the 22-year-old defender will have surgery on his jaw on Monday, which could rule him out of the club's Uefa Cup push.

A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident in Wishaw on Saturday night.

"The matter is now in the hands of the police, and we wish Paul a speedy recovery," a club spokesman said.

Quinn was handed the captaincy following the death of Phil O'Donnell in December.

The right-back's berth in the team could be filled by Brian McLean for Saturday's visit of Celtic in the SPL.
