Morecambe travel to Torquay in League Two on Saturday
Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy says he hopes to add a loan signing to his squad but admits finding the right type of player has been difficult.
McIlroy is looking to strengthen the right-back position following the departure of Darren Moss.
"We've been having a look at a certain player for the last couple of seasons," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"You try to bring in proven players who know this level but I won't sign anyone unless they can improve the squad."
The former Northern Ireland boss added: "If you go to the Premier League they only give you young lads. That's no disrespect to those young boys but this is the hardest league this year so you've got to be careful who you pick.

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy on Phil Jevons
Striker Phil Jevons continued his return to full-fitness after playing for the reserves against Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old returned to the squad for the defeat at Aldershot on 16 October and has since made two substitute appearances.
"He had another good game in midweek and we're continuing to up his fitness levels so he's coming along nicely," said McIlroy.
"He's a proven goalscorer and is also a fantastic lad and a great player.
"He has had a bit of change in his life with his partner having a baby, which does affect you. But you come to terms with that and he is a good pro."
