Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has been named as League Two's manager of the month for August. The Football League newcomers have taken four points from their three league games, drawing at Barnet, losing at Wrexham and beating Mansfield.
However, McIlroy was given the award on the strength of their Carling Cup victories over Preston and Wolves.
The other managers shortlisted for the award were Chester's Bobby Williamson and Darlington's Dave Penney.
