MK Dons have allowed Jemal Johnson to join Major League Soccer side DC United for a trial in the United States.
The American-born striker will fly to Washington this week and hopes to win a permanent contract with the MLS Eastern Conference's bottom side.
Johnson, 25, scored 11 goals in 89 league appearances for MK Dons after signing from Wolves in 2007.
He began his professional career at Blackburn in 2004, spending loan spells at Preston, Darlington and Leeds.
