Middlesbrough fear Luke Williams ankle ligament injury

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough fear that striker Luke Williams has damaged ankle ligaments following Wednesday's 4-2 FA Youth Cup win against Doncaster Rovers.

Williams, 17, was withdrawn in the first-half and taken to hospital for assessment on the injury.

Boss Tony Mowbray told the club website: "The initial diagnosis from the hospital was that there's no break.

"But our medical staff want to do further investigations and he may have damaged ankle ligaments."

The Teesville-born striker made his debut for the club in a 2-1 defeat at Barnsley in December 2009, and has since made 11 appearances for the Teessiders.
