Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca has stated that he wants to earn himself a new contract at the Championship club.
The 29-year-old Argentine's five-year deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
He told BBC Tees: "I'm comfortable here but it's not up to me. It's the club who has the decision.
"I'm just trying to concentrate and do as well as I can this season and then if they get in touch with me, we can agree some kind of deal."
Arca signed for Middlesbrough from local rivals Sunderland for £1.75m in July 2006.
He has since made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring six goals.
