Middlesbrough's Jonathan Grounds pens new two-year deal
Grounds has had two spells on loan at Norwich
Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Grounds has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The left back, 22, was convinced to sign after being impressed with the team spirit in training.
He said: "It's going to be an exciting time here. The club is going to make a big push to get back into the Premier League and I want to be a part of that.
"I spoke to the gaffer at the end of the season and he said he wanted to keep me."
Grounds added: "We do need a couple of bodies to strengthen the squad but the manager knows what he needs.
"I'm pleased to be staying. This has been my club since I was a young boy. I've been here since I was seven years old.
"I had a couple of other options but to stay here as long as I can has always been my ambition.
"Being from Stockton, my hometown club has always been Boro. I always wanted to play for the first team and it has always meant a lot to play for the club."
