Keeper Jones signs new Boro deal

Brad Jones
Jones joined Middlesbrough as a trainee

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract which will keep him at the Riverside until at least 2012.

The Australian, 26, joined Boro as a trainee and is currently an understudy to Ross Turnbull, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate told the club's website: "There's little to choose between our keepers.

"Brad feels the challenge here is one he's prepared to take on."

Regarding Turnbull's contract, Southgate added: "Ross is still in negotiations and we hope to complete those shortly."
