Middlesbrough's Egyptian striker Mido has expressed his disappointment at not being able to travel to Portugal for the Algarve Cup in Faro this week.

Boro take on Celtic and Vitoria Guimaraes in the tournament but visa problems have forced the 25-year-old to remain at home for both games.

"There have been ongoing problems regarding my visa," said Mido.

"It may be that the Portuguese Embassy require up to a week to amend this, thus preventing my ability to travel."
