Viduka's return from injury has coincided with Boro's revival in form |
Middlesbrough are keen to sort out a new contract for Mark Viduka - after the January transfer window closes. The 31-year-old striker's deal expires in the summer and agent Steve Kutner reportedly said he may leave this month because Boro had not made a new offer.
"They are well aware we want to extend his deal beyond its expiry," said chief executive Keith Lamb.
"The transfer window means January is not the time to discuss the future of a player already under contract."

Viduka joined Boro from Leeds in 2004 and their recent revival, taking 10 points out of the last 15 available, has coincided with his return from a broken toe before Christmas.
Manager Gareth Southgate has repeatedly told the Australian he wants to keep him at the club.
"Gareth could not have made his admiration for Mark more clear and both Mark and the fans know the manager wants him to stay," added Lamb.
"Everyone is aware of the difficult season we have had so far. Players and staff are dedicating all of their time and energy to our improving position on the pitch.
"Once the transfer window is closed, we will be only too pleased to sit down with Mark's adviser to discuss his future."
