Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth says striker Rob Duffy deserved his goals in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round victory over Altrincham.

Eleven-goal Duffy's first-half brace at Field Mill helped the Stags to a 3-0 win, with Kyle Perry scoring the third.

Holdsworth told BBC Radio Nottingham: "You earn your own luck. He earned [his second] because he closed down.

"He's not trained all week because he's had two injuries. It was a gamble that paid off for me today."

Mansfield were always in control of the match as they recorded a second victory over Altrincham in the space of two weeks.

The visitors also ended the day with 10 men after Tom Kearney was sent off for a reckless challenge on Gary Mills.

Holdsworth added: "I thought we were very dominant and another contribution today was our discipline, it was outstanding.

"We worked very hard, we didn't go to ground in challenges and I felt that we showed the right sort of composure."
