Notts County extended their unbeaten home run to seven league matches with victory over struggling Crewe.
County had already hit the crossbar before Johnnie Jackson released Luke Rodgers to stride forward and slot home the opening goal for the Magpies.
Craig Westcarr added the second, firing in to the bottom corner from distance.
Kasper Schmeichel's penalty save from Steven Schumacher added insult to injury for a Crewe side who have now lost seven of their last eight games.
Notts County joint-caretaker manager Michael Johnson told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"It doesn't get much better than this in front of your own fans and I was out there in the dug out with Dave (Kevan) and Tommy (Johnson).
"For me personally its been a absolutely tremendous day and for the club even better.
"They were two great finishes, I thought Luke took his goal exceptionally well and Westy scored a cracking goal."
Crewe interim manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke:
"We were second best to begin with, they took the initiative and we were chasing them, and leaving ourselves with a lot of defending to do.
"We had a great chance when Joel [Grant] showed a bit of skill and got in. If he could put chances like that away then he wouldn't be playing at this level.
"Second half we played much better because we made a game of it, and if we could have scored the penalty then who knows?"
