Mansfield Town have announced that winger Ryan Williams will be their club captain next season.

The 30-year-old joined the Stags from Weymouth in February and signed a new two-year contract last week.

Williams told the club's website: "I am delighted to accept this new role, it is a great honour for me."

Manager David Holdsworth added: "This is a popular choice with the players, they gave him a round of applause when the news was announced."

Holdsworth is yet to name a team captain for next year.
