Mansfield sign Doncaster's Ameobi

David Holdsworth
Holdsworth took over on 28 December but is yet to take charge for a game

Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth has signed 20-year-old Doncaster striker Tomi Ameobi on a month's loan.

Ameobi, the younger brother of Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, is new boss Holdsworth's sixth signing.

And Holdsworth said: "His brother is very well known - a bit like mine really. But he's eager to impress and get his career started."

Holdsworth takes charge of the Stags for the first time this Saturday when they face Crawley at Field Mill.

Holdsworth's twin brother Dean played in the Premier League with Wimbledon and Bolton.
