Mansfield Town manager Billy McEwan says he could make loan signings to create competition for places.
McEwan signed 15 players in the summer following the club's relegation from the football league and is now looking to increase his squad's size.
"We need competition and if players are going to continue to make mistakes we need players to come in," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"There's no need to panic. The players are aware of the situation."
Mansfield are fourth in the Blue Square Premier and McEwan says he has been impressed with the start to the season.
"I've got a budget that I've been very careful with and these guys have done great for me up to now," he said.
