Mansfield manager Peter Shirtliff was in philosophical mood after seeing his side beaten 1-0 by Newcastle in the third round of the FA Cup. "We are a bit disappointed. I thought the players were excellent," he said.
"But the longer the second period went on, Newcastle were getting wave after wave of attacks. We couldn't keep the ball and couldn't get into their half.
"When it's a late goal like that and Alan Shearer pops up and scores we are a bit disappointed, but not dejected."
