Sutton came through the youth ranks at Crewe Alexandra
Mansfield Town agreed a deal to sign defender Ritchie Sutton on a free transfer from Port Vale.
The 25-year-old can play at centre-half or as a right-back and has agreed a one-year contract at Field Mill.
Sutton, who played 13 games for Vale last term, said: "Mansfield are looking to get back into the Football League so that was a big factor in my signing."
Manager Paul Cox said: "He is a big strong unit who will hopefully be a good acquisition for the club."
Sutton came through the youth ranks at Crewe Alexandra and played in non-league football for four years before joining Vale last summer, external.
