Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated shoulder. The 29-year-old was stretchered off late in United's Champions League win over Lille last Wednesday.
It was first thought Silvestre would be playing again in about three weeks but the injury is much worse than feared.
A United spokesman revealed: "Mikael's shoulder required surgery. He will be back training in three months."
Silvestre joins Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Darren Fletcher and Louis Saha on the sidelines while Henrik Larsson leaves when his loan spell ends on 12 March.

Saha has been ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring injury while Solskjaer is recovering from knee surgery and Fletcher is likely to miss the rest of the season with an ankle problem.
The growing injury list is a huge concern for Ferguson, whose side are still competing for three trophies.
