Darren Fletcher may have played his last game this season |
Manchester United's Scotland midfield man Darren Fletcher may not play again this season after it was confirmed he has damaged ankle ligaments. Fletcher sustained the injury in the FA Cup win at Reading, and may now be missing for two months.
The injury also rules Fletcher out of Scotland's Euro 2008 qualifier against Italy on 28 March.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "He had lots of swelling. We had to wait before we could do a scan."
He added: "Unfortunately, the news was not good, which is a bad blow for the lad."
Fletcher was due to miss Scotland's qualifier with Georgia on 24 March through suspension.
