Ferguson has set his sights on repeating his 1999 treble

Ferguson, who guided United to victory in 1999, says the teams left are well-matched, which boosts his chances.

"The quality is there but there's no outstanding one," says Ferguson.

"There is not a lot between the sides left so we have as good a chance as anyone. But no matter which team you look at it's a big game."

Ferguson was delighted to join fellow Premiership clubs Chelsea and Liverpool as well as Bayern Munich, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Roma and Valencia in the quarter-finals.

The first hurdle of reaching the last eight was enough to please the Scot, who is chasing a second treble in the Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup.

"Being there is important. We have had a couple of bad years in terms of qualifying for this stage," he said.

"Before that we had a great record of getting to the last eight but the last eight is not our aim.

"We want to go as far as we can and we want to be there in the final."

Ferguson saluted Henrik Larsson and his contribution after his goal against Lille sealed Manchester United's passage.
