Ryan Giggs is on a mission to prove his critics wrong by re-establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with at Old Trafford.

The Welsh winger has been barracked by United fans after a recent dip in form.

Sir Alex Ferguson no longer guarantees him a starting place in his side and Giggs has increasingly had to settle for a spot on the bench.

But the 29-year-old, who has spent his entire career with Man Utd, believes he can recapture his form.

"I'm not finished and I'll prove it at United," Giggs insisted.

"I know some people believe I am at a watershed in my career but, while they are entitled to their opinion, I don't agree.

"I set myself high standards and know I haven't met them lately. But there's nothing wrong with my confidence."

Giggs added an extra dimension to United's winning display against Chelsea on Saturday when he was brought on at half-time.

But his inconsistency this season has fuelled rumours that he could leave Manchester for Inter Milan.

Giggs has vehemently denied he needs to leave Old Trafford to rejuvenate his career.

"I want to end my career here," he said.

"That's what I hope for and what I'll continue to work for."

Giggs will get his next chance to prove himself in Wednesday's Worthington Cup semi-final second leg with Blackburn.
