Elano has played 32 times for Brazil, scoring six goals

Galatasaray have completed the signing of Elano from Manchester City.

The Brazilian has signed a four-year contract with the Turkish side and will officially join the club on 31 July.

Elano, 28, signed for City in 2007 but after impressing in his first year he found himself on the fringes under manager Mark Hughes last season.

"It's a big year for Ela, a World Cup year and the guarantee that he would play week in week out wasn't there for him," said Hughes.

"I think that was key to his decision to leave.

"He's moved on and it's a good deal for the club and a good deal for him as well by all accounts. We wish him well."

He scored 18 goals in 80 appearances for City after joining for £8m from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and during his time in England cemented his place in the Brazil squad.

Elano was seemingly deemed surplus to requirements at Eastlands after Hughes, backed by City's oil-rich owners, embarked on a spending spree this summer.

So far the club have signed strikers Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor, midfielder Gareth Barry and defender Kolo Toure.

Hughes has also failed in his attempts to lure Chelsea captain John Terry to Eastlands and has had a second £19m offer for Everton defender Joleon Lescott rejected.
