Richards has won three England caps |
Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce is hoping Micah Richards, who is suffering from a long-standing calf injury, will be fit for the rest of the season. The 18-year-old defender, who is on international duty with England, has compartment syndrome in his lower legs.
Pearce told the City website: "Micah has a slight problem with his calves.
"That will be ongoing until we get enough rest time and have a look at it further in respect to any surgery that might need doing," added Pearce.

Richards' injury had made him a doubt for England last week, but he recovered to come on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw with Israel on Saturday and he is expected to start against Andorra on Wednesday.
Pearce said: "The problem might not solve itself before the summer. But at the moment, we've our fingers crossed that he stays fit until the end of the season.
"From his point of view, as an 18-year-old, any time you're capped for your country it's a massive bonus.
"Every minute you can spend on a football pitch at such an early age is beneficial to anybody, so we're pleased to see him out there for England.
"I'll be surprised if he doesn't start against Andorra."
If Richards does undergo surgery at the season's conclusion he is likely to miss the European Under-21 Championships in Holland for which he is eligible to play in.
The right-back signed a four-year contract with City last summer, but has been repeatedly linked with a move to Chelsea.
