Distin has yet to commit his future to Man City |
Manchester City defender Sylvain Distin wants assurances that the club's ambition matches his own before he signs a new contract at Eastlands. The 29-year-old Frenchman's current deal ends in the summer and he has been linked with a number of clubs.
He told City's website: "I want to stay in the Premiership and my preference is to stay at Manchester City.
"But I have ambition and I want to make sure the next contract I sign is with a club that has the same ambitions."
He added: "The next contract I will sign is very important for me as I am now 29 years old and I need everything to be correct with it.
"I see my name being linked with many clubs. However, I have not spoken to anybody.
"The supporters here at City have been very good to me, in particular this season when there has been this speculation about my contract.
"I can assure them that I will continue to give my all for the club."
Distin has made 185 appearances for City since arriving from Paris St Germain in 2002.
But the club could receive nothing if Distin does not agree a deal and leaves next summer.
