Pearce is prepared to take the criticism on the nose |
Manager Stuart Pearce has admitted there is "no hiding place" for him or his Manchester City stars. Pearce and his players have been under increasing pressure since Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Wigan, which chairman John Wardle branded "an embarrassment".
Pearce told the club website: "There's no hiding place and no shirking for us as a management team or as players.
"I'm acutely aware of criticism that comes with a performance that's not good enough. I take it on the chin."
Although Wardle's tirade was mainly directed at the players, who he believed let down his club badly with their meek surrender at the JJB Stadium, Pearce accepts he is not immune from intense scrutiny.

"If you are saying 'Do I enjoy getting beaten 4-0?' I think you know the answer before you have even asked the question," added Pearce, whose team face Middlesbrough next Monday. "But I won't run up and down and scream and pull my head out in front of the media.
"The players will know exactly what is expected of them come the next match.
"The fans have always backed this football club from start to finish. It is down to me to say to the players 'You have to match the passion that the supporters have for this football club'."
