Macclesfield Town have extended the contract of striker Tyrone Barnett despite only signing him this summer.
Barnett joined from non-league side Hednesford Town and has started Macclesfield's three games this season.
Manager Gary Simpson told the club website: "When we signed him, because he's over 24, we gave him one year with an option for a second.
"We decided to take that up now rather than waiting on it and running the risk of losing him in the summer."
He added: "We're trying to build something here and these players want to be part of it and learn with the club.
"It's certainly beneficial for both of us and the player to have that extra security."
