Macclesfield Town defender Paul Morgan to have wrist op
Morgan joined Macclesfield from Bury in 2008, initially on loan
Macclesfield defender Paul Morgan will be out for eight weeks as he prepares for surgery on his broken wrist.
The 31-year-old sustained suspected damage after falling awkwardly during a training session.
Physio Nick Reid told the club's website: "Paul needs an operation to have his wrist pinned after sustaining a fracture in training.
"The rule of thumb on an injury like this is about eight weeks before he can start playing."
Reid is confident that Morgan will be able to maintain his fitness during his lay-off.
"At least with a wrist injury it shouldn't affect his overall fitness as he will be able to do fitness work on bikes and running within a week or so," added Reid.
"As ever it's not something that's a good idea to rush back from. You don't want to try and jump in a couple of weeks, fall badly and have to go back to square one, or worse, if you were to bend the pin somehow.
"Anything less than eight weeks will be a nice bonus but there's always a chance and as soon as his surgeon says he is able to get back onto the pitch we'll see him back in action."
