Macclesfield boss has brain scan

Keith Alexander
Alexander was appointed by Town in February 2008

Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander has been taken to hospital for a precautionary brain scan.

The 51-year-old Alexander, who suffered a brain aneurysm in November 2003, went to hospital just an hour before the League Two home match with Bournemouth.

Silkmen chairman Mike Rance said: "It's purely precautionary.

"Keith wasn't feeling too well in midweek and he wasn't feeling that great before the game so we decided it was best to take the safest option."

Alexander took over as Macclesfield boss in February 2008.

He had previously led Lincoln City to the League Two play-offs for four successive seasons before leaving the Imps in 2006.

He then managed Peterborough between May 2006 and January 2007, before joining Bury as director of football in May 2007.
