Luton Town boss Money praises Crawley's transfer deals

Money's side finished second in the Blue Square Premier last term

Luton Town boss Richard Money has praised Crawley's transfer dealings ahead of the Blue Square Bet Premier match on Tuesday at Kenilworth Road.

Crawley boss Steve Evans was busy in the transfer market this summer and signed Salisbury striker Matt Tubbs and York forward Richard Brodie.

Money told BBC Three Counties Radio: "It's one thing having money to spend but another to spend it wisely.

"In fairness to the manager it appears that he's spent it extremely wisely."

He added: "You have to have a whole sense of admiration for the fact they're prepared to put their neck on the block and have made it very open that they're planning on winning this league."

Evans' side currently sit three points clear at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier table, with Luton five points behind in fourth spot and Money admitted they would be a hard side to beat.

"They'll expect to come here and win tomorrow - I never thought I'd be the manager of Luton Town and be the underdog, but this is one of those occasions.

"They are a very good team and have started very strongly and I have nothing but admiration for the way they've gone about it," Money added.

While Crawley have been steadily extending their budget, Luton have been reducing theirs, but Money was adamant that fewer transfers would not stop them competing.

"We haven't had any money to spend," the Luton boss said. "We're reducing costs and the budget, it's a sensible course of action but it doesn't mean we're getting any less competitive.

"We would argue we are the only team in the division because of the crowds we get."
