Emanuel has had an injury-plagued season at Kenilworth Road

Luton Town defender Lewis Emanuel's season has been cut short with a ruptured medial ligament.

The 25-year-old one-time Republic of Ireland B player was stretchered off shortly after scoring for the Hatters against Chester on Tuesday.

Town boss Mick Harford told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I saw Lewis as a key part of our survival plan. He is solid and reliable - it is a crying shame."

Emanuel has only managed 14 appearances this season, largely due to injury.
