Tamas Priskin came off the bench to score a clinical brace as Watford earned a vital Championship win against a very disappointing Burnley.
Jobi McAnuff fired the Hornets in front in the first minute, reacting first to Will Hoskins' searching cross into the six-yard box.
Martin Paterson went close with two chances for the Clarets before Priskin lashed a low shot past Brian Jensen.
The Hungarian international side-footed home in injury time to seal the points.
Watford boss Brendan Rodgers: "I have a big respect for Burnley. I've watched them since Owen Coyle's gone in there, he's done a terrific job and I like their idea of football.
"I'll always respect coaches and managers in the division who are happy to go with that principled play and I think we've seen how good a team they are over the last few weeks."
Burnley manager Owen Coyle: "We are a good side when everyone's tuned in, focused and do the job I asked them.
"I do not ask those players to do things they are not capable of, but that's just basic errors that have cost us tonight. It wasn't through good play. It was through bad errors on our part."
