Livingston wages delayed further

Livingston

Livingston have failed for the second successive week to pay the majority of their playing staff.

Last week none of the players received wages with the club insisting they would be paid this week after the money was transferred from Italy.

However only three of the first team squad have received the money due to them by the West Lothian club.

The players are paid monthly and were told on Monday that the money would be transferred on New Year's Eve.

The payment issues mirror a similar recent problem at Hearts, whose Lithuanian bankers have switched from a weekly to monthly payment system in an attempt to end delayed payments.

Livingston have recently denied financial problems despite being sued for 330,000 by former owner Pearse Flynn and complaints by other creditors.

The club's Italian owners also this month sacked manager Roberto Landi, whom the consortium had appointed on taking control in the summer, and replaced him with Paul Hegarty.
