Liverpool defender Daniel Agger says he still has some way to go before he returns to full match fitness.
The 24-year-old Danish international played three times in seven days last week following a four-month lay-off with a back injury.
"All three games were really, really hard for me. Mentally I'm there but physically I've been out for a long time," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"It's difficult to say but there's a way to get there."
Agger played the full 90 minutes for Liverpool at Sunderland on Saturday having earlier played for Denmark in back-to-back matches against Sweden and Hungary.
After missing Liverpool's pre-season programme because of injury, Agger is now happy to be getting some game time and says he is noticing signs of improvement in his performances.
"I know I'm not at my best right now but I'm improving all the time and hopefully I will reach it [his best] as soon as possible," said Agger.
"We all play for the games but you can't play the games if you're not training."
