Dalglish not giving up on title

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has said he has not given up hope of the Reds winning the Premier League title, but admits it will not be easy.

The Anfield club, who last won the title in 1990 when managed by Dalglish, are three points behind Manchester United, who have a game in hand.

"Unfortunately we're dependent on someone doing us a favour," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"All of a sudden you become a fan of whoever Manchester United are playing."

Manchester United could go six points clear at the top of the table if they beat Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Dalglish is hoping United slip up at the Riverside, as Sir Alex Ferguson has indicated that he may make changes to his side ahead of their Champions League semi-final second-leg at Arsenal on Tuesday.

"Fergie is going to make about eight changes he said for the weekend," said Dalglish.

"I don't think he has players there that means he could put a bad side out, but maybe it gives Middlesbrough a wee bit more encouragement."

Dalglish is aware that whatever the result in the North East, Liverpool have no margin for error when they entertain Newcastle United at Anfield on Sunday.

"If Middlesbrough get a result then it's going to be beneficial to Liverpool only if they win on Sunday," Dalglish said.

"At least this week they know exactly where they stand going into their game and if they get any semblance of help from Middlesbrough I'm sure that will raise their game on Sunday."
