Benitez was frustrated by Liverpool's slow start

The Reds were beaten 1-0, but Benitez says they are still in the hunt ahead of the return at Anfield on 1 May.

"You need to score just one and if we can score two we'll be there," he said.

"We will have the support of our people. They know they are really important for us and I hope we will feel the atmosphere behind us."

Liverpool took time to find their rhythm at Stamford Bridge and fell behind to a 29th-minute goal from Joe Cole.

Concerned that Chelsea were getting the upper hand, Benitez spent a lot of his time out of his dugout trying to get instructions across to his players.

"Why was I on the touchline in the first-half? Because we were giving the ball away," said the Spaniard.

"We needed to be a bit more compact and were doing foolish things."

Cole has now scored the winner three times for Chelsea in games against Liverpool, but the Reds beat their London rivals 2-0 at Anfield in January with goals from Dirk Kuyt and Jermaine Pennant.
