Lincoln City manager Steve Tilson hopes to extend defender Gavin Hoyte's loan, even though he has returned to Arsenal because of a hamstring injury.
Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "Gavin's been tremendous for us so to get that news wasn't great.
"I'm speaking to his agent who will speak to Arsenal to see if we can get him back until the end of the season."
Hoyte, 20, has made 10 appearances for the Imps but is now expected to be out for three weeks.
Lincoln have already moved to cover Hoyte's absence by signing full-back Julian Kelly on a month's loan from Championship side Reading.
