Lincoln City have cancelled the contract of midfielder Richard Butcher by mutual consent.
The 29-year-old, who was signed for a third spell at Sincil Bank by former manager Peter Jackson last summer, made 142 appearances for the Imps.
But he played only eight games under Jackson's successor Chris Sutton and was transfer-listed earlier this week.
Butcher also had a loan spell last season at Macclesfield where he played under former Imps boss Keith Alexander.
It was Alexander who signed Butcher from non-league Kettering in November 2002, and again in November 2005 for a month-long loan spell from Oldham.
