Oakes has Imps future - Jackson

Stefan Oakes
Oakes has scored one goal in 26 league appearances this season

Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson has denied that Stefan Oakes could be on his way out of the club in the summer.

The 30-year-old midfielder has not played in the Imps' last 11 matches.

Oakes has been left out of the squad for the last three games, including Saturday's loss to Exeter which finally ended their faint play-off hopes.

Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Stefan's just been feeling under the weather. He still has 12 months on his contract and still has a future here."

Oakes's last appearance, in the 5-1 defeat by Grimsby on 7 March, was followed by eight matches as an unused substitute.

During that time on-loan Michael O'Connor played alongside Scott Kerr in the centre of the Imps' midfield, but he returned to Crewe Alexandra after the expiry of his loan ahead of the match against Exeter at Sincil Bank.
