Lincoln City assistant manager Iffy Onuora admits he has been in contact with manager Peter Jackson who is receiving treatment for cancer.

The Imps beat Wycombe 1-0 on Saturday in Jackson's final game in charge before he began treatment.

Onuora is now expected to take charge of Lincoln for the next couple of months while Jackson is away.

Onuora told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "He's taken the club to his heart so he is not just going to go away."

"I'll be liaising with his wife Alison because I don't want to be bothering him when he is in the middle of treatment," he added.

After the win against Wycombe, Imps chairman Steff Wright told Jackson to forget about football and focus on his health.

Onuora's spell in charge starts with a match on Friday at Saltergate against Chesterfield.
