Ling has told his side exactly what is required for a play-off challenge |
Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling has told his players a place in the League One play-offs is theirs for the taking. The O's were denied by a late Nicky Forster penalty in a 1-1 draw at Brighton on Saturday.
The east London club are now ninth in the table but only two points away from the final play-off position.
Ling told BBC London 94.9: "I said before the game that we wanted 24 points from 12 games, as there will be at least one team that hits a run."
"With 11 games to go there's still a chance of going into the play-offs and at the start of the season I'd have taken that.
"I can name the top four (this season), fifth and sixth is still open and there's probably a dozen clubs, ourselves included, who could win that mini league."
Jabo Ibehre gave Ling's side the lead with only ten minutes to play but Forster converted his kick in injury time after Adam Chambers was adjudged to have handled the ball.
Ling added: "They edged the first half, we edged the second half, so even though it was a cruel late goal it was a fair result."
