Eriksson hints at big-name signings at Leicester

Sven-Goran Eriksson
If he [Beckham] wants to come then please come! But the rumour should be killed at once because it will not happen

Sven-Goran Eriksson

Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has said the club's owners will "do what they have to" in order to secure top-flight football for the club.

The Foxes were taken over by Thai-based consortium Asia Football Investments in August and quickly appointed a big-name manager in the ex-England boss.

Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "What I want to do is play in the Premier League as quickly as possible.

"And I know the new owners are prepared in January to do what they have to do."

Meanwhile Eriksson has denied weekend reports that David Beckham will be joining him at the Walkers Stadium.

"There is nothing in that," the Swede said.

"If David wants to come here and play football he is more than welcome but I doubt that he wants to play in the Championship.

"I haven't spoken to him - and I can easily do that - but I know the answer. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays where he is - no loan at all. I doubt he will go anywhere.

"If he wants to come then please come! But it [the rumour] should be killed at once because it will not happen."
