Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric insists that he and former boss Nigel Pearson did not part on bad terms.
Pearson left to take over as Hull City manager with Paulo Sousa replacing him.
Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester: "Nigel is a good man and a good friend. We never had one word of disagreements when he was here - not one word.
"I have tremendous respect for what Nigel has done here. It was purely his decision and you have to live with that decision. I wish Nigel the best."
But Mandaric said his focus was now on next season and trying to get Leicester in the Premier League.
"As far as I am concerned I am delighted I can bring a good manager to replace Nigel," Mandaric said.
"It's exciting. We have a manager who I really believe will be well respected and adored by our supporters. He is very ambitious, had quality as a player and has quality as a manager.
"We have a good competitive squad, with a lot of good players but when we need to improve he will get the support. He needs time to assess what he has got and what he needs."
