Mandaric expects Pearson to stay

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric says manager Nigel Pearson is going nowhere and will sign a new contract.

Pearson penned a two-year deal in June 2008 with an option for a third season, but has since been linked with jobs at Burnley and Celtic.

Mandaric told BBC Midlands Late Kick Off: "I am not worried about any competition for a lot of reasons.

"One of those reasons is Nigel's stability and his word to me that he is not going anywhere."

Leicester secured their place in the Championship play-offs with Saturday's win at Preston.

"He is well respected and I can't see why Nigel would move anywhere," added Mandaric.

"No matter where we end up I want Nigel to stay and he will stay, it's as simple as that.

"Nigel has done an outstanding job. He is a good man and as I said the day I first met him, this is our man.

"I am in contact with Nigel all the time. We will discuss his long-term contract at the end of the season as we have to focus on every game right now."
