Leicester sign Ipswich defender Alex Bruce on loan

Leicester have secured the signing of Ipswich defender Alex Bruce on loan until the end of the season.

Bruce, the son of Sunderland manager Steve, has made over 100 appearances for the Tractor Boys but has struggled to make an impact under Roy Keane.

The 25-year-old's only appearance this year came in a 1-1 draw at Leicester on 10 January.

Bruce is likely to go straight into Nigel Pearson's squad for the trip to Blackpool on Saturday.

The defender has been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland but has not played for his country since 2008.

Bruce is Pearson's second signing of the transfer window after the capture of 35-year-old former Newcastle midfielder Nolberto Solano.

Meanwhile, veteran striker Paul Dickov has been released from his contract by mutual consent.
