Leicester City striker Paul Dickov is desperate to take his chance to shine in the Foxes' FA Cup third round clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 36-year-old, who recently returned from injury, could lead the attack as leading scorer Matty Fryatt is injured.
Dickov told the club website: "I needed to get back on the pitch (against Hereford), that did me a lot of good.
"The forwards are playing well this season, so there's no point knocking on the door asking why I'm not playing."
After putting himself back in the frame the former Manchester City and Blackburn striker said his desire to play is as strong as ever.
"We have a lot of young players who are full of enthusiasm and want to play every game and I'm no different at 36," he said.
The veteran striker also tipped Leicester to cause an upset against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
"They will come here wanting to attack us rather than get men behind the ball and that will give us the space to attack them," he added.
"The pressure is off when you play the bigger teams, so that will make a change for us," he said.
